We live in uncertain times. We were thrilled when Ms. Gruberová agreed to sing the role of Queen Elisabeth in Donizetti's Roberto Devereux on November 27 and December 1, 2020. For obvious reasons this encounter of the operatic diva with her fans from all over the world is not possible. Our priority now is to protect the health and lives of people around us.
But theatre is all about the contact and connection of live human beings and nothing can replace this.
And so, in spite of the unpredictability of pandemic measures, we continue with our preparations. The stage design is complete, the costumes are almost ready. The rehearsals had to be suspended due to the state of emergency.
Now we need to ask you to be patient. We are in contact with Ms. Gruberová and are working hard on finding a solution. We sincerely hope that we will be able to experience two fascinating and unforgettable performances with Ms. Gruberová as soon as the theatres are allowed to open again.
(Tickets purchased for the originally planned performances will be valid for the new performance dates which we will announce shortly. Visitors who have purchased tickets for the original performances and do not wish to attend on the new dates may return their tickets until 27 November at the box office of the ŠDKE during regular opening hours.
