An exceptional actor and a great person Jozef Úradník celebrates his jubilee of 70 years on Wednesday, 15th December. He joined the State Theatre Košice as graduate of Academy of Performing Arts in 1976 and stayed loyal to it until his retirement in 2013, but audiences can still see him at the theatre in successful comedies A Flea in Her Ear or Tom, Dick and Harry.
Since the beginning of his professional career he became one of the profile actors of young generation. With his specific physical and vocal dispositions, he was initially destined to play comic characters, but he soon showed his acting mastery in dramatic repertoire as well. So far he has created over 140 characters. Very significant is his radio and television work, from which we can mention extremely popular children’s series Inventions of Uncle Electron (Výmysly uja Elektróna) and Golden Gate (Zlatá brána), from the dramatic television work Snow above Limbo (Sneh nad limbou). From unforgettable Slovak films, the character of Jozef Króner's son in excellent film Mowing of the Hawk’s Meadow (Kosenie jastrabej lúky), and also the film Landscape (Krajinka). As a longtime teacher at the Conservatory in Košice, he participated in education of young generation of actors, the members of which are among leading members not only in theatre in Košice. He worked as an artistic director of the Drama, in 1988 till end of January 1990, and in 2004 till 2013.
